Venture AOT Controls Not Working: Find the Failed Input

Last updated 2026-10-12Unofficial player article

Identify which action fails, then compare its current keybind before changing the whole Venture AOT control setup.

When Venture AOT controls are not working, find the failed input before changing the whole layout. Check whether movement and camera input respond, then compare the specific action with Tab Menu → Settings → Keybinds. A single unresponsive function and a whole chain that feels awkward need different next steps.

Identify what still responds

Start with a clear observation. Can you move, aim the camera, or open the menu? If those respond and one action does not, keep the investigation on that action. You already have a narrower problem than a completely unresponsive session.

If several ordinary inputs are unresponsive, do not assume that one hook assignment explains all of them. Describe which inputs failed and whether the menu opened. That gives you a useful starting point for further help without pretending every control problem has the same cause. Keep this check short: the goal is to choose the next branch, not to run a long list of unrelated device changes.

Compare the assigned action with your input

When you can open the menu, use Tab Menu → Settings → Keybinds. Find the function you wanted to use and compare its assignment with the input you pressed. Controls can be changed in game, so a remembered default is less useful than the assignment shown for your session.

If the assignment differs, use the configured input or remap it deliberately. If it matches, keep that observation and move to the next check rather than changing more bindings at random. The keybind guide is for designing a comfortable arrangement. Here, the immediate question is whether you are asking the intended input to trigger the intended function.

Separate an action from a difficult chain

Try the function by itself before treating a combined movement sequence as proof of failure. A working hook action followed by an awkward turn describes a different issue from a hook input that produces no response at all.

If the individual functions respond, shorten the chain and focus on the point where coordination becomes difficult. If one function does not respond, retain its name and assignment while investigating that narrower problem. This keeps timing and input response separate. You can use the ODM controls reference to review the sequence once the individual inputs make sense, instead of repeatedly rearranging keys while still unsure which action failed.

Distinguish equipment trouble from general input

A failed combat or movement attempt also deserves an equipment check. Pay attention to Gas and blade condition when those resources are relevant to the action. An interrupted outing is easier to understand when you keep the equipment observation separate from the binding observation.

If ordinary movement works and the difficulty is specifically a blade action, use blade troubleshooting for that task. If a hook responds but the approach fails, use hook troubleshooting. Describe the result you saw rather than calling every unsuccessful attempt a broken control. The difference determines whether you should inspect an input, equipment preparation or the action you are trying to perform.

Send touch problems down the right branch

On mobile, separate a button you struggle to see or tap from a visible button whose action is failing. The mobile layout troubleshooting page addresses readability and size. The mobile control troubleshooting page addresses touch response and hook configuration.

Keep your description equally specific when requesting help: name the action, say whether other inputs work, and explain the result of pressing its configured input. That is a useful account of the problem without assuming a particular bug or promising one universal repair. Resolve the narrow issue first, then return to a longer movement or combat chain.
