Venture AOT: How to Kill Titans with a Controlled Approach

Last updated 2026-10-12Unofficial player article

Use both hooks to build a controlled approach, then turn a leg opening into a rear nape strike without lingering beside a Titan’s arms.

To kill Titans in Venture AOT, create a controlled approach, reach the nape, and leave the body’s reach after the cut. For Generation One ODM gear, a useful beginner route is to attack the legs first, move behind the target, and finish at the nape.

Pick a target you can pass and leave

Your first target should give you room to approach and a place to escape. Look beyond the Titan as well as at it: a nearby wall, tree, or structure can help carry you away after the strike. If reaching the target leaves you with nowhere to go, choose a different line before attaching.

Treat the encounter as a short movement task rather than a prolonged exchange. You want to arrive at a useful body part, make the cut, and continue moving. Hovering beside the Titan gives its arms another opportunity to reach you. Speed matters when it carries you along the intended route.

Use the legs to create a rear opening

With Generation One gear, use both hooks to control the approach, then boost into a leg attack. Cutting the legs gives you a chance to change position while the target is incapacitated. Move around to its back and aim the next attack at the nape.

The leg cut sets up the finishing strike; it does not replace it. Keep your camera on the target while moving behind it so the second approach has a clear destination. If your first hook placement produces an awkward orbit, gain space and rebuild the line instead of trying to force the same angle through the body.

Respect the arm even after a leg cut

A Titan with damaged legs can still threaten you near its arms. Do not interpret the opening as permission to stand alongside the torso or pause within grabbing distance. Take the rear route promptly and keep enough room to redirect if the attack line changes.

Crawler and Abnormal Titans also make it unwise to assume every encounter follows the same comfortable pattern. Favor a readable approach over a crowded target you cannot track. The beginner sequence is a useful way to organize your movement, but your next action still depends on where the Titan and its arms actually are.

Make the nape pass your finishing movement

Once you are behind the target, use the nape as the destination for the cut. Prepare the blade attack before you commit to the final pass, and carry your movement through the weak point. Then redirect toward the escape space you selected before the encounter.

Avoid turning a missed nape strike into several hurried attacks from the same exposed position. Leaving first gives you another opportunity to choose the angle. Blade Controls explains how readying blades and attacking fit together; use it when the input sequence is the part interrupting your approach.

Reset a miss without throwing away the run

A missed cut does not require an immediate second dive. Regain distance, check your gas and blades, and decide whether another pass is worthwhile. Returning to supplies is a better use of a successful escape than beginning another approach with equipment that cannot finish it.

For your first sessions, repeat the same manageable objective: a controlled leg opening, a rear position, a nape cut, and a departure. Build confidence in that sequence before chasing more difficult targets. If touch aiming is your main obstacle, mobile Titan combat focuses on keeping the target and the next movement visible.
